Mirta Ojito has worked at the Miami Herald, El Nuevo Herald, and The New York Times. She received an Emmy for the documentary Harvest of Misery and a shared Pulitzer in 2001 for a series about race in America. She author of two award-winning nonfiction books. Deeper than the Ocean is her debut novel.

All speaker series events begin at 6:00 p.m. Speaker Series talks are free. Seating is on a first-come, first-seated basis. Gates open at 5:30. We will make every effort to seat everyone. In case of rain, the event will be held inside the library.
